Ep 4: Morning Person or Night Person?
Hello, everybody, and welcome to another episode of B1 English Talks. I'm your host, Brandon, and this podcast is here to help you improve your English at the B1 level and feel more confident in your progress. Each episode, we'll dive into fun and real-life topics to help you sound more natural and practice your English listening skills. Let's get started.
In today's episode, our topic is all about whether you are a morning person or a night person. Do you love waking up early in the sunrise, or are you someone who prefers staying up late and enjoying the calm of the evening? Everyone's different, of course, and it's fun to think about how our routines match our personalities.
Morning people often love the feeling of starting fresh. For them, mornings are the best time to get things done because they feel more energetic and focused early in the day. They might use that time to work, exercise, or even just enjoy the quiet of the morning before the day gets busy.
On the other hand, night people love staying up late. They find the evenings more peaceful and relaxing, the perfect time to be creative or spend time doing things that they enjoy. While mornings might feel rushed to them, evenings are slower and allow them to unwind.
For me, I'm a morning person. I love to get up early at 5 a.m. every day, have my coffee, go for a run or do some yoga or go to the gym. I love to get my exercise in early in the day, and then I'm also a big fan of eating a really big breakfast before I get into work for the day.
Our routines show whether we prefer the mornings or the evenings. Morning people usually like to start their day with something productive, like a workout or making a nice breakfast. It sets the tone for the day. Night people, however, might focus their energy later in the day. Some prefer working on personal projects or hobbies in the evening because it's quieter. I have a friend that tells me that they do their best thinking after 10 p.m. every day, and I've thought to myself, that is crazy. But then I realized that it's just their routine and how they live their life, and it's not right for me to judge them.
If I want to enjoy a relaxing evening or go out with friends on the weekend late into the night, I will need to take some kind of nap in the middle of the day because I wake up so early that then going into a late night is really exhausting, you know. But I believe that most people are not one or the other strictly. There is always a balance. Most people, I believe, are a mix of both being a morning person and a night person. They might wake up early for work during the week but enjoy staying up late on the weekend. Or their routines might change if they're on vacation or if it's a holiday.
Like for me, during the summer, I went to Florida with my family, and on those days I woke up really late, like 11 a.m. or noon every day because we were out doing things every night, staying up late. And once the vacation had ended and I got back to work, I had to switch my schedule to wake up early every day again. It's funny how routines can shift depending on what's happening in your life. Sometimes you just have to be flexible.
So whether you're a morning person, a night owl, or somewhere in between, there's no right or wrong way to live your day. It's all about finding the balance that works best for you and makes you feel your best. So, are you a morning person? Are you a night person? Or maybe are you a mix of both? Think about your favorite part of the day and why it works for you.
